## Performance: Solid, Not Spectacular

I tested two sites on the Shared Starter plan:

– **Site A:** Personal blog, ~500 monthly visits, standard WordPress with GeneratePress theme
– **Site B:** WooCommerce store, ~2,000 monthly visits, 50 products

### Uptime

Over 60 days, MDDHosting delivered 99.96% uptime. One brief outage of about 18 minutes, and another of about 7 minutes. For a shared hosting plan, that’s good — not exceptional, but solid.

For comparison, in previous tests SiteGround gave me 99.99% and Hostinger delivered 99.97% over similar periods. MDDHosting is right in that range.

### Page Speed

Global average response time was about 680ms. That’s fine for a shared host. Not as fast as SiteGround’s 480ms or WP Engine’s 350ms, but also a fraction of the cost.

The WooCommerce store loaded in about 2.1 seconds with caching enabled (LiteSpeed Cache plugin, which comes pre-installed). Without caching, it was around 3.4 seconds. Both numbers are acceptable for a commerce site, though I’d want it under 2 seconds for better conversion rates.

MDDHosting uses their own data center in Michigan. If your audience is in North America, that’s fine. If your audience is in Europe or Asia, the latency adds up. They don’t offer CDN as a built-in feature, though you can add Cloudflare manually for free.

I opened 5 support tickets during the 60-day test. Three were genuine questions (how to increase PHP memory limit, SSL certificate glitch, migration follow-up). Two were test tickets to measure response times.

**Live chat** response time averaged 3-4 minutes. The agents were technically competent — none of the “have you tried turning it off and on again” script-reading you get from entry-level hosts. The SSL glitch was resolved in about 12 minutes.

**Support tickets** (email) took 2-6 hours during US business hours, and up to 14 hours on a weekend. That’s slower than SiteGround’s sub-1-hour ticket response, but faster than Bluehost’s 6-24 hour window.
